Planning Applications Panel praise BDK Architects Design

Members of the Planning Applications Panel have praised BDK Architects scheme for an eco-friendly ultra-modern extension to Archirondel Cottage. Last month the Panel decided by 4 votes to 2 to overturn the Departments recommendation, agreeing to approve the scheme that restores landscape and historic character of the area. This morning 26 June the Planning Panel confirmed approval for the project.

When deciding to approve the application during last months meeting a Panel member complimented BDK Architects design, saying Very clever approach and elegant solution, we should not be afraid of bold designs when it complements the context”.

Archirondel Cottage is 1820’s Grade 3 Listed building with significant WWII structures. The scheme addresses issues caused by previous unsympathetic works and creates a new lightweight glass pavilion extension with a green sedum roof. The design concept provides an elegant and creative response to the challenges presented by a complex and sensitive site.

Further citation was given in a States of Jersey Press Release on 29 May that said In approving the application, the panel praised the design of the extension, which members felt was a sensitive addition to an historic building”.

Another exquisite piece of contemporary architecture in the making at Archirondel Cottage!
